5. SAM
Analog Electronics (AE)
Flight Model of the SAM (Surface Analysis at Mars) Analog Electronics
(AE) Package prior to final testing at Battel Engineering. The SAM
instrument has been developed under the direction of Dr. Paul Mahaffy at
the Goddard Space Flight Center for the NASA-JPL MSL Mars Rover mission.
The AE consists of 4 modules, Valve-Heater Control, Power Supply,
Pyrolysis-Temperature and Filament-Bias (from left to right) that
provide the majority of power and analog electronic functionality for
the instrument.
