13. SAM Filament-Bias Module

Top view of the FB module after completion of testing and preliminary
closeout. Final closeout occurs after initial testing with the SAM
quadrupole tube. Unit contains more than 1000 parts plus 7 magnetic
assemblies, providing power for 3 floating filaments and multiple
electrode bias outputs. Filament drive and electrode bias system used
on SAM is a 4th generation design extending from Galileo in
the 1970’s to Cassini and then the Contour mission.
