21. 170 kV High Voltage Module at Several Stages of Assembly
170,000 volt high voltage multiplier demonstration using an oil dielectric and mounted in a double insulated test enclosure. The multiplier is shown in the lower left picture prior to being stacked up and installed into the enclosure. The multiplier can run up to 10,000 volts per stage. The o-rings on the outside on the graduated beaker enclosure are semiconducting and act as field rings. With attention to detail and consideration of the unique physics, it is possible to engineer and construct simple test setups that can work even at extremely high voltages. |
