25. 7000 Volt “VapeArc” Generator
After building the arc generators shown in
Picture 24, a sealed 7000 volt derivative version was developed using a sealed quartz vape tube with flowing N2 gas. I had no idea what a vape tube was until I bought it on Amazon but the high temperature quartz tube is well adapted to being a sealed arc generator. The setup in this picture used a ridged horn antenna to measure the spectra from 800 MHz to 1.2 GHz. It was surprising to observe how much energy was radiated in the GHz spectral bands. I expected the plasma to quench at a lower frequency.
