32. 100 kV Load and Voltage Divider for Testing the 60,000 Volt Prototype High Voltage System
A major challenge for any extreme high voltage test setup is to develop a suitable load and voltage divider that is both stable and accurate over the voltage range of interest. In most cases it is possible to measure and characterize each resistor at a lower voltage using a known standard. If assembled carefully, the characteristics of the series resistor group will track the individual measurements. This particular setup is optimized for 60,000 volts but is useful up to 100,000 volts without breaking down.
