73. MOMA test simulator with a pair
of flight-like filaments.
In many ways, all of the MOMA electronics shown in the preceding pictures simply exists to make a filament similar to the one shown above glow and emit electrons in a carefully controlled way. The unit shown in these pictures is a test simulator with a pair of flight-like filaments. The glowing filament can be seen in the upper right and lower left pictures. If the lower left pictures is carefully examined it can be seen that one filament is on and one filament is off. My assistant in the lower right hand picture (daughter Kayli) is an expert at using an optical pyrometer to accurately measure the color temperature of the glowing filament. This particular filament is glowing at around 1800C. |
