The opposite side of the encapsulated section discussed in Photo
161. The
lower section contains a special Emission (EM) control board that
operates at a floating potential of 10 volts to 2000 volts when
controlling the Mass Spectrometer ion source filament. The groove around
the EM board is for a patented Faraday cover designed to allow high
voltage operation of the EM without encapsulation.
